Chinese Idioms through
Calligraphy for Literacy
Taught by Master Calligrapher & Artist
Jiang Zhe-Zhou
First Strokes Calligraphy is designed to provided a fun
hands-on introduction to Calligraphy. As a follow on to the first
semester, we will introduce Idioms from our first 100-200
characters list.

Chinese calligraphy is more than a fine art, it is the foundation
for learning characters. Students will learn basic strokes, radicals
and characters from our "key 100 words" list. Together these
areas combine to form a foundation for literacy in Chinese.

Students age 5 - adult are invited to enroll in the special
hands-on class. This class has no pre-requisites.
All students age
5 & up are encouraged to enroll. Intermediate & Advanced level
students are strongly encouraged to enroll.

Master Jiang began his artistic life in Beijing at the College of
Fine Arts. He moved to Philadelphia to continue his studies at the
Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.

He creates art in a variety of mediums including Chinese

recognition and is on display in many private and public collections
including the Governor's Mansion in Pennsylvania, the China
History Museum in Beijing, the Wharton School and the library of
the University of Pennsylvania.

Master Jiang has authored four books, teaches calligraphy and
painting throughout the Delaware Valley, and contributes to the
